Abit Massey
Chairman
Mr. Massey is Chairman of Peach State Bank's Community Development Board along with serving as President of the Georgia Poultry Federation. Mr. Massey is a well known veteran banker to many in the Gainesville and northeast Georgia area. He currently serves as member of Board and Executive Committee of UGA Research Foundation and as Director and Secretary of UGA Real Estate Foundation. Some of his awards and appointments include: First Distinguished Citizen Award, Northeast Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America, 1985. Lifetime Achievement Award, National Poultry & Food Distributors Association, first person not a company owner to receive the award. Distinguished Service Awards from University of Georgia Colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and from Georgia Tech Research Institute. Chairman, Georgia State Games Commission which conducts the official state amateur games in cooperation with Georgia Recreation & Parks Association and others. Chairman, FDR Warm Springs Memorial Advisory Committee which conducts programs at the Little White House in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources. Director, Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Director, Georgia Council on Economic Education. Past President, Georgia Jaycees, when Georgia was selected as best state organization in country; established Empty Stocking Fund in Hall County for Gainesville Jaycees.
John Melvin
John retired from the firm which bears his name: Stewart, Melvin & Frost, LLP, where he invested a 41-year career. He specialized in Real Estate Law during his tenure as a practicing attorney. He and the staff of the Real
Estate Practice Group of his firm were approved agents for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, New York. He has been active in a host of civic and arts-related causes throughout the community. Melvin has held a number of leadership positions in civic organizations and is a past President of the Rotary Club of Gainesville. He has also served as Deacon and Elder at First
Presbyterian Church, Gainesville and is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from Gainesville College and Brenau University. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Finance, Mr. Melvin earned his law degree from the University of Georgia Law School in 1965. Prior to joining Stewart, Melvin and Frost in 1968, he served as a Captain in the Judge Advocate Department of the U.S. Air Force.
Jack Frost
Jack is owner of Memorial Park Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. He began his career in 1956 in Elizabethton, Tennessee and purchased his first cemetery in 1961 in College Park. He has developed funeral homes and cemeteries in twelve different states from Billings, Montana to Charleston, South Carolina. He purchased Memorial Park Cemetery in 1988 from the Vickers family and built Memorial Park Funeral Home in 1990. He has since developed Memorial Park South in 2000 and Memorial Park Riverside Chapel in 2009. He received the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association in 2010. He is very supportive of our Gainesville community and was also recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the American Legion 2011 and excellence in community service by Daughters of the American Revolution 2011.
